What was your major fitness goal when you started your PT sessions with Dan?
Initially, it was probably the same as most people, to lose weight and tone up. I started seeing results in just 4 weeks which was great! I had to buy new work pants, down a size in 6 weeks and then in 9 weeks. I realized I’d lost about 9kgs without really knowing and just focusing on performance in the gym.
Why did you want to use a Personal Trainer at the start?
I’d been going to the gym for a long time and I knew I just wasn’t reaching the full potential that my body is capable of. I figured having a PT session someone to be accountable too would help me find my motivation and steer me in the right direction.
Great! Have you set new goals now?
I love the fact that I can now just focus on performance and not worry about my weight. A few weeks ago I got a personal best squat of 60kgs for one repetition which was 4kg heavier than my very exciting bodyweight. I’d love to push 100kgs for one rep, which would be amazing. Running isn’t a strong point for me so I’d love to be able to smash out a half marathon (21km) one day. I feel like possibilities are endless really.
What is the best thing about Training with him?
It’s surprisingly a lot of fun. I used to dread exercise but now I get excited about our sessions. They are not always easy but that’s what I love about training with Dan. He makes us (training buddy Natasha Turner) feel like we could do ANYTHING! He challenges us to be better every day and I feel like I do get fitter, stronger and healthier every time I walk out of the gym.
